Extra Virgin Olive Oil has achieved the prestige it deserves, thanks to the drive of many well-known chefs and, above all, the olive oil sector in the province of Jaén, which has given a great boost to Extra Virgin Olive Oil so that it is recognized throughout the world.

However, lately it can be seen that the price of Extra Virgin Olive Oil has risen considerably, although not as much as other types of oils. We are going to explain some factors that have led to this increase.

What should the price of Extra Virgin Olive Oil be?

Well, it must have a reasonable price; if it is too low, you should not trust it too much. You already know the work that goes into the production of our liquid gold.

The last harvest was much lower than expected, so demand caused its price to rise.

And in this season, since the olive grove depends on the weather, its price has continued to rise. As you know, we have had a year with very scarce rainfall throughout the peninsula, but especially in the south. For this reason, a good harvest is not expected.

We continue to work and fight so that our olive groves continue to provide exceptional Oil.

Although the olive tree has been considered a rain-fed crop, its response to irrigation is spectacular and many irrigation ponds have been built that are filled with rain. However, after several years of lower-than-usual rainfall, today they are at minimum levels.

All of this is the cause of the rise in the price of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, in addition to the high costs that the sector is suffering.

We add to all this the reform of the European Community aid, which will mean significant losses and a real catastrophe. Many farmers in the Jaén region will lose said aid. In the best of cases, it will be necessary to increase the price; in the worst, they will cease production, which will decrease the total supply.
