Have you heard of Chupadedos olives?

These are seasoned green olives that feature a blend of intense flavors like oregano, garlic, bell pepper, and, of course, olive oil, which makes them feel very smooth on the palate. They are identified by their deep green color and can be served as an accompaniment to any appetizer.

Furthermore, they provide a large number of great antioxidants that are beneficial for your health.

Olives and pickles are undoubtedly among the most consumed products in Spain, Andalusia, and around the world, accounting for 50% of sales; in markets, they are best-sellers in large containers, which allows their aroma and flavor to be more concentrated.

According to medical specialists, olives are healthy and prevent many diseases, which is why they are always on the list of nutritional recommendations because they are natural and organic. In the case of "chupadedos" (finger-licking) olives, they help in the reduction of body fat; the risk of cardiovascular diseases has decreased by 80% due to their consumption, and they minimize cholesterol because they are considered a low-density lipoprotein that prevents weight gain.

Their consumption should be moderate; it is not meant to be eaten daily, as it is an energy-dense food and this would affect a person's total weight.

The SEDCA (Spanish Society of Dietetics and Food Sciences) states that it is recommended to consume a handful of olives throughout the day, that is, between 6 to 10 olives per day, due to the nutritional properties that these chupadedos olives provide.

Let's compare olive oil and an olive: the olive definitely contains more nutrients, and consequently, both are equally rich in omega-9 and fatty acids.

The main risks of consuming them in large quantities are cardiovascular risks and hypertension.

They have been very well accepted in the market because they are ideal as a side for all types of food, although they are usually used as a starter or appetizer.

The correct way to use them is to cover the container each time it is opened so that the aromas are not lost; this also keeps them fresh. It is recommended to consume them after the first week of purchase and within the shortest time possible (within a 12-month period).

Currently, more than 8,500 units are sold in a supermarket. During the pandemic, sales increased by 47% due to changes in consumer habits; those who previously bought oil made from chemically treated bases now prefer to look after their health.

Chupadedos olives are a tradition in Mercadona and Andalusia; however, they are sold in all stores across Spain because their quality is good, they provide great benefits, their packaging is reusable, and depending on where they are acquired, they are used according to taste and custom.
