Homemade soap has always been present in my home; it is used to wash white clothes, to remove stains… A piece in the washing machine and no stain can resist it; it has no competitor on the market, no matter how many years go by.

What you need to make homemade soap with used oil

• You need 325 grams of water, 1000 grams of strained used oil, and 134 grams of caustic soda.
• A container, a wooden spoon to stir the mixture. A mask, gloves, and glasses.
• And vinegar in case we get any splashes.

How to make homemade soap with used oil step by step

It is better to do it outdoors because of the caustic soda fumes. They can be dangerous, so follow that advice.

First, add the soda to the water, always, always. NEVER the other way around. It will start to steam, but it won't last long.

Then add the used oil little by little, while stirring constantly and always in the same direction; you have to stir for at least two hours. It is a long process, but if you have a hand blender (that you can use only for this), it will be ready in much less time (10 minutes). If you use one, keep stirring as if it were a spoon for a few turns before turning it on.

Now turn it on and leave it at the bottom of the container without lifting it at any time so that it doesn't splash you.

When the mixture is creamy, pour it into a silicone mold or a box, as they used to do in the old days, lined with plastic wrap or a trash bag.

Let it dry for 48 hours.

After this time, unmold it and cut it with a knife. You have almost completed the process of making soap with used oil. But there is still one final wait.

It is not ready yet; you have to let it cure for about 40 days for the pH to stabilize.

And now, it is ready to use or to give as a gift.
